Dance Preview
By Heather Parker
The Jr. High students are planning an end of the year bash to celebrate the fact that summer has arrived. The theme is a beach/summer dance and along with the dance and music comes the games prizes food and pictures.
A few games that came up as an idea and were approved for the dance are things such as: Silent auction- where there will be a table of prizes and kids can come up and take a piece of paper and write down what prize they want and what they want to bid for it. This game will go all through the dance and then at the end the kid that bid the highest for a certain prize will win that prize. Then their will be the all famous Limbo: They will end up using a bamboo sick for this limbo to try and fit it with the theme hope people are ready to start saying “How low can you go!” Then there of course are the refreshments. They plan on having punch or lemonade. Then for the food they will have popcorn and maybe snow cones and then cookies. Something else to keep in mind so you can remember always is to take a photo with the background of a sunset with palm trees for a $1. A note to all who have never gone to a dance it will cost $2.00 at the door to get in but bring extra money always for anything extra. So put on your dancing shoes and your beach type clothes and have a blast!
Future 7th Graders Come to Visit
By Delina Whidden
Last Wednesday the upcoming seventh graders visited the jr. high. The purpose of this was to let the seventh graders have a feel of what next year would be like, and to show them that the school was not scary.
When 2:30 arrived, some seventh graders went to the auditorium to show them around. Caitlyn Reilley, Taylor Ladd, Jorgen Mulkey, Brittany Spangle, Rebecca Hedges, Delina Whidden, Alan Roy, and Humberto Diaz were chosen for this job. Mrs. Scarberry then introduced Mr. Gross, Mr. Fulps, and Mrs. Prater. Each of them told what next year would be like. Mrs. Prater also handed out prizes for answering certain questions. The seventh grade student council was introduced; Taylor, Rebecca, Delina, and Brittany.
The classes broke up and went in two groups, one with Mr. Gross, and one with Mr. Fulps. The entire school was toured, and the upcoming seventh graders met their teachers for next year. Mr. Stampfli and Ms. Peterson had a few things to say to each of the classes. Following the tour, all the students went to the cafeteria to have chocolate cookies and milk.
BBQ Preview
By Amanda Palmer
On May 30th during lunch break for the junior high kids there was a BBQ. All the junior high kids are going to be divided up into groups with eight kids in every group. There are going to be two team captains for each group. There are going to be crazy relays, obstacle courses, and field competitions. Throughout the events points are going to be kept. At the end the champion team will be awarded a prize.
There are going to be snacks in between the activities to keep all the students refreshed and full.
After the BBQ fun is over Mrs. Peterson's and Mrs. Gunn's classes are going to be showing off their finalists for the rocket project that they are working on to see who the top winner is. "It sounds like it is going to be a blast! Hopefully it turns out to be how it sounds," said eighth grader Stephanie Clardy.
