Braves Varsity Burns Red Devils

 JV
    The Braves JV football team played last Thursday at home against Coquille.
    During the first half the Braves defense held Coquille's varsity offense to six points.
Justin Gannon and Russell Johnson each had great punt blocks against the Red Devils.
     In the second half Coquille put in their JV offensive lineup to even up the match for the Braves.  Coquille scored one more time in the second half for another six points.
     Despite getting into the "Red Zone" 4 times the Braves ended the game without scoring.
     The final score was 12-0 in Coquille's favor.

Varsity
      The Reedsport Braves vs the Coquille Red Devils, an away game that started with the Braves scoring early a couple times in the first quarter,
     At the end of the first half the score was 23-7 braves on top.  
     During the third quarter Reedsport scored 3 more times. Coquille scored 3 more time in the third.
     Reedsport ended the game by scoring once more in the fourth quarter.  
      During the course of the game several penalty flags were thrown including 3 for encrouchment  The final score 50-23. Reedsport won.

Reedsport's Revenge

   They started by beating the Warriors 25-7.  With Kelsey Fitzgerald scoring 15 straight servis points in the first game alone.
      "I am really pleased with the win."  Coach Karen Tibbles said.  "Playing in the North Douglas gym is very difficult; the ceiling is so low.  It wasn't the least stressful win we've had, but it is a win.
     And win they did with 20-25 for the second game, 22-25, 25-17, 15-8.
  With outside hitter Krista Wooley making 26 kills over the coarse of 5 games, Sara Kolander making 9, and Chelsea Tibbles and Mandi Shaffer making 5 kills each.
        "Sheila Manike, Ashley Fulps, and Megan Hennning were  very consistant and they made the necessary adjustments for the ceiling."  Coach Karen Tibbles added.

Cross Country Team Competes
in South Umqua

The Braves competed in thier second meet of the season in Myrtle Creek on September 11 hosted by South Umqua.
        Reedsport girls started the Race at 4:15pm. The temperature was 84 degrees at the start making a tough run for the girls.
        Kelly Merschel placed 4th with a time of 22:45, followed by Alicia Lacewell who placed 11th with a time of 24:01.  Kati Dickson placed 14th in 24:32 and Abby Harris came in at 25:13.
        The boys race began at 5:00pm. the race kicked off to a bad start for sophmore Chris Kaufmann who ran into a low tree branch in the first half mile of the race. Despite the pain Chris finished the 5killometor race. (aproxamitly 3.1 miles) After the race Chris went to the hospital to recieve six stiches to the side of his head.
Overall the Boys did good and placed second overall at the meet.The boys times were: Andrew Mersche, 18:26,

Nice Job Braves!
         On the way home from the meet the bus carrying Reedsport's team home broke down in Sutherlin, causing the team to wait for a new bus from Reedsport to come get them. They ended up waiting for over 3 hours for the bus. They did not get home until 12:30am.
