Homecoming Court by Dharmi Patel Every year schools
around the country participate in Homecoming. Fall Homecoming is a time
for students, athletes and alumni to show their school spirit
throughout the week and prepare for the big game at the end of the
week. The rules for election have totally
changed.
The student body has made it so that freshmen and sophomores are also involved in this traditional festival. Their can be only one freshmen couple (one boy and girl), 2 sophomore couples, 3 junior couples, and 4 senior couples. Also, the king and queen can only be
seniors this year. This years elected court is freshmen, RJ Terra and Mandy Foote, sophomore, Kasey Wiggans, Justin Fulps, Morgan Bunch, Ryan Anderson, junior, Heather Leach, Armando Herrera, Deanne Huebner, Ashley Fulps, Bubby Phibbs, Chris Kaufmann, senior, Megan Henning, Casey Palermo, Victoria Schaff, Andrew Merschel, Dharmi Patel, Jesse Jackson, Mandi Schafer, Daniel Mast. Friday October 1st the student body voted for King and Queen. That information is secret and in good hands until coronation, Thursday 14th. ASB Excursion by Heather Leach For the last three or four years the ASB has sent representatives to a meeting the student body has known little to nothing about. This meeting has two representatives from every school in the 2A league. This year the meeting was held at Myrtle Point on Wednesday the 29th of September, the lucky representatives this year were seniors Lisa Osekowsky, student body representative, and Stephani Markwick, historian. Though in the past this meeting has generally been centered around sportsmanship but this year the theme was changed to 'Leadership'. Student body representative Lisa Osekowsky said, "It helped bring us together with the other schools in our league so that we could learn new ideas for activities for our school." Mrs. Tisler remarked that the representatives that went were full of new ideas but they've been so busy since they returned they haven't had a chance to put any of them to work. First year ASB member Stephani Markwick said, "The the conference we had a great opportunity to explore possibilities for the rest of the school year. We were also encouraged to find ways to bond our school together and bring a sense of belonging to the student body for the community." |
