Eclipse

We live in a world that seems so ordered; the sun rises, goes across the sky and then sets. The moon goes through its phases from new to full and back again. It all seems like clockwork, and then something unusual happens that seems to throw the orderly timing off. On a night when the moon rises full and beautiful, it starts to change, at first it is so subtle that few notice it.  Ever so slowly, the moon begins to dim and more alarming yet, it disappears.
We have recently experienced this occurrence on the night of October 27.  First it seemed like a normal night, but then the moon began to change and turn a strange rusty red color.  Later it began to change back, then it was back to usual and the moon’s cycle was back in order.

FBLA Conference
by Heather Leach

Out of the thirty one members in FBLA twenty one attended the Conference in Florence on October  27 and 28.  Upon arriving in Florence the FBLAers set to work.  The first thing they did was attend a workshop by Ryan Underwood, the Chief Leadership Officer of Tri-Leadership.  To get everyone up and moving he decided that everyone in the audience should partner up.  The game was rock, paper, scissors, best 3 out of 5.
After that things became interesting.  He had everyone stand up and had the partners stand back to back, on 3 each person was to turn around and face their partner in a certain position, this game was called 'Full Body Rock, Paper, Scissors'.
All of the members from the schools went into a large room and were mixed up in order to mingle more.  Those groups were sent to different stations such as: Over, Through, and Under, where the objective was to get a member of the group over a piece of string about five feet in the air, through the middle space, and under the bottom string; without touching the string at all.  It took a lot of talking and team work to produce good results.  Another game was the well known Pictionary, only instead of drawing it was done with Play Dough.
Once all of the teams were done with the games there was a dance.  The Portland DJ. Randy Mueller took many requests and kept the members entertained.  But for Reedsport the fun didn't stop there.
Starving, after the rigorous day the members on the bus decided they wanted Taco Bell for dinner.  When they arrived at Taco Bell they found that only the drive through was open.  Mrs. Law
decided that she wasn't going to drive the bus up to the window so everyone unloaded the bus and walked through the drive through.  After that adventure they headed to the Florence Community Babtist Church, who had volunteered their building to the club.
The girls got the upstairs which had two rooms equip with chairs and couches. And the boys got the first floor which was equip with a carpet.  In the morning the club members woke to the smell of donuts and juice.  From the Church FBLA members headed back to the conference were there was an energizer session.
Once the opening session was over Reedsports members split to attend different workshops.  There were many workshops available such as “Go for the Goal” which taught attendees how to focus and work towards their goals.  “Bag of Tricks” was another workshop that focused on how to identify the learning style of those around while understanding one’s own learning style.  There were three different sessions that each person attended and after those sessions members returned to the auditorium where Ryan Underwood closed the conference with a speech accompanied by a slide show.
FBLA members returned to school on Thursday in time to attend their last period class.
