No matter which Reedsport football game you went to something was
always missing. Something loud, something energetic, they were
missing cheerleaders.
After regaining the cheerleading squad from a long lull and training three years of cheerleaders, coaches Julie and Sharon Feagles decided to call it quits in 2004. When the 2005 football season rolled around, track was bare form lack of cheerleaders. In an effort to change all that Andrea Bell stepped forward. The night of open house, cheerleader hopefuls attended a meeting where they were informed tryouts would last for 3 days and start the next day. The first day of tryouts, 12 girls came out. For the next 2 days the girls learned a dance, a cheer, and a jump series. After the third day of practice the girls were informed of who would be on the next cheer squad. Andrea kept eight girls. Seniors Brittney Frayley and Nikki Williams (who are captain and co-captain). Juniors Heather Leach, Bethany Elliott and Kati Dickson. Sophomores Christi Holden, Brittney Hansbury, and Amber Qualls. The girls have had daily doubles for a week, and even though they’re working hard and improving daily their uniforms won’t be in in time for the first game on Tuesday. Even though they don’t have their uniforms yet they’ll still perform and cheer at the game. In order to raise money to reimburse the school for uniform cost they are doing a raffle for tires and wheels that Les Schwab donated. The cost is one dollar per raffle ticket or 6 for $5. You can pick up tickets from any cheerleader. You won’t be able to miss these girls so make sure you come out to the game supporting your team and wearing Reedsport colors. |
