The Not So Big Book Sale
by Kim Church
The Scholastic Book Fair is here from the 8th through the 12th of November and is being held at the Junior High Library.
The school has brought the book fair to the Reedsport Jr. Sr. High school to earn money for good books for our school library.   Mrs Prater said "It usually is a good way to earn money for books."
The book fair also has fun things such as computer games, posters, pencils, pens, and other little things for students and parents to buy.
Mrs. Prater said "I keep bringing back the book fair because the Jr. High gets 40% of the profit.  We then get to use that money to get more books for our library."
"We are in need of money from our book fair because our selling has not been good." said Mrs. Prater.  So far the sale has not been that good according to Mrs. Prater.  They hope to get more profit before it ends because the junior high needs the money.

Hittin' the High Notes
by Jessica Faglie
Last Wednesday, November 10, Reedsport Junior High students, Brittney Smith, Brittney Lupton, Kathy Schriver, Bebet Solorzano, and Casey Fraley headed off to Bandon for the Local Jazz Fest.
At the Jazz Fest middle school students were able to sing with many other schools from the area.
The choir students sang a variety of songs like “Joshua Fit Battle of Jerico”, “Blue Sky”, “Feeling Groovy”, and “What a Day.”  At the end of each song a lady would tell the group what they did good, and what they can do to improve.
The Jazz Fest was not a placing competition, but the team came home feeling good about their performance.  All choir students will meet with other schools again on the 10th of November.  They will meet at Marshfield.

New Season Jamboree
by Tailor Nunn

It's that time of year again when they open Jewetts doors for seventh and eighth grade girls basketball.
The girls started practice Wednesday, the 3rd of November.  They ran, worked on plays, and practiced zone defense for there jamboree they had that weekend.
A jamboree is like a tournament.  Many teams gathered from around the district and played 15 minutes against each team.  There is no over time so if a team ties then that's how it ends.
The jamboree started at 12:45 with their first game against Bandon.  Tailor Nunn hit a three pointer to tie the first game.  The next two games also ended up being ties and were left as is instead of having over time.
In the forth game, Jessica Faglie helped pull off a victory with her defense.  She was put against their toughest player and left her scoreless all game.
The last two games the girls were really pumped and ready to go.  They pulled off an win against sunsets JV team.  The last game they won, Lea Hoover stood out with her ball handling skills.  Mr. McRae said to the team, “You guys played very well for just having two practices.”
Monday, the 15th of November, the Reedsport Braves play there rivals, the Siuslaw Braves, at four o’clock at Jewett middle school.  For the first time Siuslaw has been added to the Jr. high list.  The Braves are hoping to leave a lasting impression on the (Siuslaw) Braves.
