Leadership in RHS
by Grace Smith

Leadership is not always about one person but a group working together to solve a problem. That is what junior high and high school students learned at their leadership workshop on May 9 and 10.
Joan taught 18 students how to communicate and listen to each others ideas through a variety of activities and games.  Some games they did were frustrating for the students to figure out but in the end they came together to overcome their obstacle.  The reason for the workshop was to try and help next years leaders become an effective team.
The students that attended the workshop were: junior high- Kim Church, Corey Gibbens, Caesar Lira, Stephanie Palmer, Brittiany smith, Bebette Solorzano, Camille Tisler, and David Yecha; high school- Jesse Barnum, Katie Corcoran, Kati Dickson, Cody Dugan, Charlotte Elisor, Mandy Foote, Patrick Harris, Armondo Herrera, Russ Johnson, Chris Kaufmann, Haylea Kwiatkowski, Chase Landrey, Alison Law, Matt Longworth, Kelly McLain, Spencer Mitchell, Kelsey Moore, Daniel Plotz, David Rodriquez, and Josh Savey.

I Need a Hug
by Babette Solorzano

The Extreme Kindness Crew gave an assembly on May 10.  The kindness crew are a group of guys in college who came from Canada to share and teach people about kindness.  Their names are Val, Brad, Erik, and Chris.
One of their top inspirations as to why they share kindness is because of the 9/11 attack.  Another reason is because one of the members mother had cancer and with only having a few weeks to live she shared her kindness with other people.
They came up with many ideas to share kindness, such as giving homeless people a few dollars, helping with the community service, and even protesting to give people hugs!
This group of guys started something that almost everybody forgot about, being kind to each other.  While being on their tour they have inspired many people.  Who knew that just giving a compliment meant so much?
