Groovin' in Greece
by Heather Leach

Preparations started in the cold December months for the spring dance, the infamous Prom.  The Junior class juggled multiple theme ideas.  The first theme idea was Medieval, the thought of having to center an entire dance around knights and damsels soon lost it's glamour and a fresh idea was brought up.  With the junior class all on board they started planning for an Evening in a Grecian Garden.
Outlines were drawn and jobs were assigned, it was finally time for the junior class to kick it into high gear.  Arrangements were being made left and right for that special night all the while the school was left in the dark.
Prom fever caught on quickly as the court was chosen.  Queen Carina Behrens and King Jeff Berge, though they weren't crowned at the dance due to communication problems between the coordinators, were announced at the dance.
Starting at 3:30 Friday afternoon and ending quite early, about 11:00, the dance decorations were thrown together with skill and ease.  White paper and lights adorned all of the walls with gossamer hanging from the ceiling.  The tables, unlike most years where they're all stuffed in the back of the room, were situated in a large U around the dance floor.  Another new adjustment was the working fountain in the center of the floor.
From nine o'clock till midnight RHS students danced as if they were the gods from Olympus in their Grecian themed garden.
After the night of dancing and hanging out with friends, the nine o'clock clean up came very early for students and volunteers alike.  "The clean up was quick and painless except for the tape on the floor,"  Lynda Brown said.

Athletes earn
High GPA's

by Michele Kirk

In order to participate in any sport for the Reedsport School District the athlete must obtain an average GPA of at least 2.0 and not be failing any classes.  Not only did the Spring Sports Athletes achieve this but they surpassed it!
The Reedsport spring athletic teams placed in the Dairy Farmers Top Ten academic teams earning them state recognition.  Ratings are determined by taking the average GPA of each member on the team, the outcomes are as follows:

Boys Golf- 1st
Girls Golf- 4th
Baseball- 5th
Girls Track- 7th
Boys Track- 8th

In a recent press release the school stated that it is proud of the diligence spent by these student athletes both in and out of the classroom.
