| Boys Basketball: On to State by Alison Law Though Reedsport looked
at the game against Harrisburg as a normal game, it decided the fate of the
Braves and the Eagles. Which team would advance to the state play-offs?
The Harrisburg Eagles started the game off strong with a 4-2 lead,
but the Braves quickly gained the momentum to lead for the rest of the game.
Reedport's Jeff Kennedy hit four three pointers in a row, pushing the Braves
ahead in the first quarter. Once the Braves were in the lead, they never
looked back. With a score of 34-29 at half-time, the Braves used some patience and ran as much time off the clock as they could while keeping the lead. The game ended with a score of 55-48
. Jeff Kennedy had 18 points, Daniel Mast had 15 points, and Scott Tisler added 11 points for the Braves. David Vandervort shot four key free throws to keep the Braves' lead in the last three minutes of the fourth quarter. On the Harrisburg side, Jacob Malpass, MVP of the TriCo league, was held to 15 points by Scott Tisler. First team all league wing, Stephen Grimes was held to eleven. The Braves will move on to the OSAA State Play-offs in Pendleton on march 4th-6th.
