"Home of the Braves"

Support
by Christina Watson

“We Support Our Troops”, we see it everywhere, but does everyone support what the troops are doing in Iraq?
Why are we trying to “rescue” people who don't want to be saved? and why is America going into debt because of something one man wants (democracy)?
I support our troops but I don't support why we are over there.  When the vietnam vets came home, they were not welcomed.  It was found that the smaller towns were the one’s that were more opinionated.
Some troops came home on Saturday, they had a very warm welcome, all the way from Eugene there were signs and yellow ribbons to welcome them.
I believe this is a good way to support them, but just putting up ribbons just because they came home isn’t as influential.  If we had put ribbons up when they left then I think it would have made more of an impact on me, but just putting them up so they can see them when they come home is just for show, not meaning it.
Even though I think this should have been done differently, it was still heart warming to see all the signs and ribbons for the soldiers on the way home and on the main streets.

Online Chatting
by Shelly Mclaskey

What could possibly be more fun than chatting with a complete stranger that you know absolutely nothing about? Yeah right! Many people, especially teens, go online every year to try and hook up with someone they don’t know.  Even if they end up hooking up with someone, it doesn’t always turn out how they want it to.
By doing this, teens end up getting kidnapped, raped, or even killed by meeting someone from the internet.  Even though people say that they’re your age, it doesn’t always mean that they are. Chatting online with a stranger might seem fun to you at times, but it can be really dangerous. For instance, I used to chat online all the time with people that I didn’t even know until someone hacked into my computer and got all of my personal information, like my name, age, address, and phone number.
So now I don’t talk online anymore unless its with my friends or someone that I know.  Someone could pretend that they’re me and give a whole bunch of random people my phone number or some other information.  So you can probably tell by now that even if you think that its safe to talk to a complete stranger online and think that they cant  do anything to you or you think that it’ll never happen to you, guess again!

If you want us to put your editorial up you MUST include your name (Sponge Bob doesn't count), otherwise we cannot put it up!  We've had great stuff but couldn't put it in because of a name.
