Sadie Hawkins
by Beth Moss

The annual Sadie Hawkins Dance was held on Friday, February 18th, 2005. This was a dance where tradition was broken and the girls were able to ask the guys to go.
Along with every good Sadie Hawkins dance there is, of course, good music.  This dance also had a jail, a contraption that you could send friends or enemies to.  The only way out of the barred structure was a kiss from a friend or admirer.
Along with these festivities there was also a hitching post, a concept made for couples to get hitched during the night for a small fee.
Finally, what is any good dance without a place to capture the night.  A photo stand was available with a backdrop and hay barrels so that those interested were able to keep this moment in their memories forever.
"I had fun, but I think that we should have more dances per year, not just three, " said Misty Helvey about the dance.
The dance lasted from eight to eleven, leaving kids dancing into the late hours.

Bridges are Built
by Christina Watson

“What is the bridge project?” This is a common question among students and parents that are now in geometry class at R.H.S.
The bridge project began in Mr. Beach's class about 2 weeks ago.
Students in Geometry are sent to computers to work on their bridge plans on ta program designed for Apple computers.  By using this program, students are able to see designs that make a bridge stable.
“The bridge project is a lost harder than I would have thought.  The truck barely touches the bridge and it falls down.” said Crystal Dickenson as she worked on her own bridge.
The groups also get to choose their own company name, whether it being funny or serious, and the bridge name as well.
Bridge assignments are due by the end of March so the companies are getting ready to finalize their construction and get to building their bridges by hand out of spaghetti noodles and glue.

Consisting of nine members, the Reedsport High School knowledge bowl team competed against four other teams, including Siuslaw, Coquille, Marshfield, and Brookings in the knowledge bowl held in the Reedsport Auditorium on February 24th.
The Reedsport High School knowledge bowl team had won two rounds and lost two rounds by the end of the game. The advisor of Knowledge Bowl, Mr. Wiggans said, "We’re going to beat our opponents!"
