    Four years ago the entering freshmen were told to start their college preparation early and it would pay off.  Four years later, approximately 24 senior students, around 39%, were recognized for their hard work and handed their scholarships on Tuesday May 31st at the Pacific Auditorium.  Family and friends gathered to watch the soon to be graduates get one step farther to their higher educational goals.
    According to Guidance Counselor Mrs. Tibbles, "Thirty separate scholarships were awarded and that isn't even counting the university/college financial aide packages."  Of those 30 scholarships 17 were local, three were state-wide, five were national, and five were miscellaneous.  Scholarships were also awarded by SSGT William L. Hess to those going into the Marines.
    To date approximately $294,399 has been awarded.  This number will continue to grow while more scholarships are awarded.  The following are scholarships that have been received by senior students at RHS.
