A New Challenge
by Michele Kirk

With at least 45 issues being produced, former editor-in-chief Heather Leach has now passed the position to me, Michele Kirk.      From the beginning of last year Heather has taken nothing and turned it into something.  Not only did she have an inexperienced staff but she was new to the job herself.  Luckily, she has done a wonderful job of training me as an assistant editor and has showed me how to mature into editor-in-chief.
To follow in somebody's footsteps that has exceeded everybody's expectations is not something easy or to be taken lightly.  Am I intimidated, yes, am I scared, sure, and I am definitely nervous about putting out my first issue.  But most of all, I have confidence that my new staff, experienced staff, my assistant editor, Christina Watson, and I can handle the job.  Although I may run into obstacles along the way, I am determined to be a great editor.  I cannot say that I know how hard the job is but I am willing and am sure that I will soon be finding out.
Making the newspaper my own is something that will be difficult but some changes will eventually occur and the newspaper will evolve into something a little different.  Page editors may be switched along with the chance of the deletion and creation of new pages.
With my first issue being produced (which if you're reading this it means I actually managed to upload it correctly, round of applause) I hope to become a successful editor with the help of former editor-in-chief and best friend Heather, along with my wonderful staff.

Swimmers Get Dunked
by Beth Moss

Taking the lines out of the pool for the annual water polo tournament was just the beginning of the drippy battle. This event takes place every year when the swim team takes on the wrestling team... but there is a catch, all of the action takes place in the water.
While the swim team was playing around the wrestling team took the tournament serious, and who would blame them, they decided to swim in their wrestling gear. Like every year, the wrestlers triumphed over the swim team in a 21 to 7 victory.
Although the swim team lost in their own pool, they did score some points. As a matter of fact, Aubrey Vaughn, one of the swim teams own scored two points in a row. Unfortunately it wasn’t enough to win.
Water polo is a combination of both wrestling and swimming. While swimming in the water, you had to dunk the opponents in the pool. One of the objectives was to throw a ball at a kick board in the notion to either go through the middle of it or knock it down in order to score points.
