Clash of the High Schools The differences between Reedsport
high school. the difference is that Oregon City is way bigger and
had like three to four thousand kids and this school only has like three
to four hundred kids. My opinion is that I like this school better
because there aren't many people here. I would rather people go to
Reedsport because there are less students. Even though Reedsport School
doesn't have that much money, but you don't need that much money to do stuff.
"Work On Not Being So Vain" by Wan Ton So today I looked
at the archive of all the past issues, plus this one, and I have to say,
EVERYTHING on this page, whether it be pictures, articles, letters, editorials,
etc. is written or about your staff! Aren't editorials suppose to come from
OTHER people. And are the only people on the swim team Kati Dickson and Leo
Castanada? And I noticed that boy in the picture from the jr. high
dance. that would be Heather Leach's little brother? Coincidence? I think
NOT.
And why is there an editorial written by someone on the staff? What Jack wrote, yea its the truth. The only thing on this page that doesn't have anything to do w/staff is the front page! And even those people have been on like EVERY other issue this year! This page is bland! This obviously isn't going to make the paper, but you could work on not being so vain. Are we that starved for attention? Set an example and stop being like everyone else in Reedsport. Hi, Wan Ton. I'm sorry that you don't like our paper. It's hard to make it look interesting and still be easy enough for our staff to be able to work on. I hadn't realized that everything on our newspaper was about our staff and we'll try a lot harder to vary the topics a bit more. And in my defense about the picture of my brother on the Jr. High page, it's not my page and I didn't even see it until I was going over the newspaper at the very end of our process. All of the editorialsare written by people my staff bbecausehardly aanyoneelse writes any for me. I take what I can get but if you would like to write me a wweeklyeditorial or any other article I wouldn't object. If you have ideas on how we can liven the paper up a bit I'd love to hear them. A Little Advice
and an Opinion to Match
by Ryan Hiltebrant
I would like to point out the death penalty is a very good thing. Without it we would have to pay taxes to keep many people alive when we can just give them a lethal injection for a whole 12 bucks and voila, we dont have to pay so much for there living cost do we? Besides if they commit a greivious crime then they shoud die... I am sure that relatives of those hurt/affected would agree. umm... One other thing... I agree with Jak... This format really blows... especilly how small this little box it that your are supposed to type in.... Peace! Again i think that the death penalty is a good idea. Hi, Ryan. Thank you for the idea on the letter box. People tell us that they don't like our format but they never give us any ideas. I'll be the first to admit that I'm not the most exciting person so it's always nice to have some good ideas given. Heather Leach
Not Quite Up To Par! by Victoria Bonnett
i went to your play with my sister crystal and some of here friends.i didn't like it at all. you just might have said Kip's name in the play.it was not funny nor smart. you made it look like it was okay. i went to the High school in Springfeild. and my family has known Kip and his family since i as a little girl. Kip wans't a bad person, yes he did kill people and hurt others, i even got shot that day in the arm, but i don't hate him for it and it was not his parens fault for buying him guys. they just wanted to see him happy. but students always say it can't happen to our town it can. we moved to Colorado and i was also in that shooting in Columbine. i dated Eric Harris. Best friends with both of the guys. i wouldn't have dreamed that they would do such a thing. but you hurt someone so bad and make fun of them, and they go over the edge. they fear they can't talk to anyone because of they fear that nobody will listen and it's not about the mask, thats not it at all. it's about the stuff that go's around in the school's and teachers see it, even if they don't to say anything, they see what other students go through when they're made fun of. i have went through many high school sharing my story of he days i was shot at the high school in Springfield and in columbine. and you can have your asb president say just be nice, practice what you preach. there should be no question of "why?" no reasons, he did it because nobody listened, and people hurt him. it doesn't matter what the why is it's what happened. i visit Kip almost 3 times a week, he just had his 21st birthday. and last month i went to visit the familys of they victims. they're okay with it, not its been five years,.. we need to let it go and move on. i know it can be an issue for school. but if you put it out like it's okay and it's funny. and it's better than video games, thats wrong. and William who wrote the plat "bang bang your dead" he was are drama teacher. video games and tv. you can't blame that on what happens in the world today. thats not it. it's in the home s and the school. people don't see how much this town trys to cover up the bad. and try's to make out to be sweeky clean it's not. you have drugs, guns, fights, stealing just like any other town. i don't think it's right what you did. nobody asked any of the victims of familys to write about the shooting. at least nobody asked me. you have it all wrong. thank you. Hello Victoria. I'm extremely sorry that you feel that way but we did not put that play on to cover up what goes on in our town. We wanted to send the message to people that you should care about people and listen to others. We intended on this play to be a good example of how to treat people and the consequences of school shootings and have received many compliments.
