Reedsport Raises A New Champion
by Grace Smith
On Saturday January 15th there was a wrestling tournament in the RHS gym.  11 schools attended the tournament, they included: Cottage Grove, Douglas, Creswell, Myrtle Point, Toledo, Siuslaw, Reedsport, Brookings, North Bend, and North Douglas.
The Braves placed sixth over all in the meet, and for the first time in ten years three wrestlers made it into finals.  Also for the first tim in 20 years a Reedsport wrestler became champion.  Senior Nathan Morris was the Champion of the 145 pound weight class.  Nick Schneider and Spencer Mitchell both took second, Nick in the 152 pound weight class and Spencer in the 275.  Travis Gardner also achieved a podium spot by tying for third, in the 171 pound weight class, via the five match limit.  Armando Herrera suffered from some separated ribs early in the tournament and attempted to continue but they caused too much pain and he was unable to complete his matches.  "Everyone did good, there was a good turnout this year." said Herrera "SNYD is the man!" he added referring to Nick Schneider.

Boys fall to Warriors
by Justin Gannon

The Reedsport JV Boys basketball team has been on a losing streak. They lost to Bandon as well as North Douglas.
The Braves first went to Bandon in hopes of coming off with a win but that idea was smashed when the Tigers beat them by seven points. Patrick Harris scored 13 points  and Skyler Squglio scored 12 for the team.
Then just a day later they traveled to North Douglas to play the Warriors on their home turf.  They played their hardest but didn't come close in the end.  With the final score being 46-59, the Braves were disheartened but still plan to play even harder in their next game.

Givin' It Their All
by Brian Kruse

Last Saturday the Basketball teams traveled to North Douglas to battle against the tough Warriors.  The JV girls team played their hearts out but unfortunately could not overcome with the win.  The girls have tried their hardest this season to try to win and come out with a good season, but it has not turned out for the best yet this year.  Better hopes are to come for the girls. The girls finished the game with a score of 35-49 favoring the Warriors.
Jordan James was the leading scorer for the Lady Braves with seven points, Kelsey Moore wasn't far behind with six points.
