Swallowing Down the Pep Assembly

by Heather Parker

At the pep assembly on October 28th first the volleyball and cross country teams were presented to the school. Of course it didn't stop there, ASB put together a wacky game.  The game that was presented was an obstacle, relay course. This time
their was sliding on blankets, drinking mysterious drinks, and shaving balloons. There was a total of four teams that raced against each other.  Each class had one boy and one girl represent their class. The freshmen team was Sean Horton and Lea Hoover, sophomores were Brandi Cramm and RJ Terra, juniors were Jared Mast and Christi Holden, the seniors were Kyle Bent and Aubrey Vaughn.
First the guys had to drag the girls on a blanket down the gym. Once the teams were there the girls had to drink a special mix of canned pairs, cream of corn, hot sauce, cheese whiz, yogurt, Hostess powdered donuts, and  strawberry syrup.
After the girls were done with the drink they were given a bottle of water then, had to run over to a table and cover a balloon with whipped cream.  The guys then ran back the other other end to put on a frozen shirt and roll back down to the girls. After all that they had to lay on their backs and hold the balloon with there teeth while the girls shaved the balloon with a sharp razor. Surpizingly no one popped their balloon.
Finally the girls were required to pull the guys down the gym, to the finish line, on the blanket.  The winners were the juniors on with Christie Holden and Jared Mast making it through the course fast enough! That was the assembly hope you enjoyed.

Cheering for Basketball

by Bebette Solorzano

It is the end of the football, volleyball and cross country. In this upcoming season basketball, swimming, and wrestling are starting. One sport that people don’t really notice is cheer leading. It is a two season sport cheering on both football and basketball.  Not all of the girls on the squad are required to be on the court for both seasons.
“When I started cheering I was a bit nervous. Once we all got to know each other better it turned out to be one of the most fun and exciting sports ever! I can’t wait for basketball season to start.” Said Sierra Wells.
Most people wonder what the purpose of the cheering is. “No one realizes how much effort and time it is. We have practice almost everyday. It does get tiring after a while but it is worth it!” Replies Annette Solorzano.
During the fall season there must be something that will be missed one thing Bethany Elliot will miss is, “Cheering at the football games, and getting the crowd and football players pumped up!”
