Rebel Generation
by Michele Kirk
It seems as though every
young
generation is known as the rebel generation by their elders due to a
wider exception of ideas and a different view point on individual
morals. It’s safe to say that as the years go by ideas and morals
will continue to change but a level of respect should remain the same.
With the new school year came many new changes, from
new teachers and new students in the hallway to the all new advisory
group. Students at RHS have been faced with what seems like an
all new atmosphere and they have faced it with respect.
While walking to and from my classes I haven’t heard
the grumbling and complaining that would normally come from a rule
change such as no longer allowing students to wear hats inside of the
school or classroom and although not everybody absolutely loves the new
advisory groups, their dealing with it. It isn’t always
necessarily easy to deal with everything new all at once but the
students of RHS are dealing with the new and accomplishing an excellent
education along the way.
Perhaps instead of looking at our generation as just
another moral stretching group of students we deserve to be seen in all
aspects, including the increase in respect over the last year.
Instead of criticizing what has changed over a generation people should
look at what has stayed the same, and then a so called “rebel”
generation wouldn’t exist at all!
