Wasted Progress At RHS, progress reports are sent out ten times each school year. Is this process truly necessary for the students and parents? Or is it just a waste of ate schools already tight budget? Let’s break the equation down so we can see just how much the school is paying. Each report requires a thirty-nine cent postage stamp, and each student receives one so that’s about 400 people.(Some people get doubles if their parents don’t live together.) That equals out to about $156 dollars. Now multiply that amount by the ten times it goes out each school year. It comes out to about $1560 dollars for an overall fee. Is this process truly necessary when many students don’t let their parents even see these reports. Many student will get to the mail before their parents do and will make sure their parents don’t see them. To remedy this behavior, maybe the school could require a parents signature on reports that are below a 2.00 GPA. This would be reinforced with disciplinary actions if the students didn’t brink them back to the school with a signature by a certain date. If we tried this method out, maybe sending out the reports that often wouldn’t be a waste! Offense By Heather Parker It almost seems that everywhere I turn its like I am doing something wrong or offending someone. I am afraid to say anything to any one because it might be offending someone. Like last year during Christmas we couldn’t say Merry Christmas it had to be Happy Holidays because people were offended or saying things like that and people get offended. So if those people said something and I said I was offended how would they act?? everyone needs to get a GRIP!! Yes I will admit that it is not against the law to be offended and maybe if you mentioned it OK but to try and get that person to stop saying it um..... No maybe you could approach it in a different way, like you could say please do not say that around me or something. I had someone say to me that they did not like me saying Merry Christmas to my friends that I should be saying Happy Holidays what did they care I wasn’t saying it to them!! People are so involved in themselves these day that it doesn’t matter if a word or a action doesn’t affect them they just don’t want it to happen.
