Donations from Marshfield and North Bend
Marshfield and North Bend both held a volleyball game against each other and all profits made from the game were donated to Mr. RHS in Erics honor!!! Mr. RHS By Bebette Solorzano The Mr. RHS contestants for 2006 are Cole Browning, Mike Clemans, Tyler Marler, Buddy Phibbs, Carter Duval, Garret Spangle, Tyson Smart, Syler Squglio, Chris Kauffmann, Alan Wheeler, Armando Herrea, Eric Chase, and Daniel Plotz.
With months of planning Ashley Fulps, Morgan Bunch, Alison Law, and Brittney Dixon help out 13 boys to put on a performance to raise money for The Children's Miracle Network. During the performance they boys must compete in: formal wear, sports wear, a talent, and a interview. Then the judges announce Mr. Congeniality and Mr. RHS. Mr. Congeniality 2006 is Tyson Smart, and Mr. RHS 2006 is Eric Chase, but full filling the Mr. RHS duties is Carter Duval. “They Boys had a diversity of talents whether it was playing the guitar, or juggling torches the show could not have been better.” said Melissa Holt. For the sports wear the contestants were accompanied by children from Highland Elementary. The contestants were fitted by Mr. Formal for the Formal wear and the interviews. For their interviews they had to answer a serious question and a not so serious question. Don't go thinking that being a Mr. RHS contestant is all fun and games, the boys and went up to Sacred Heart medical center to visit some premature babies. “Aww... babies!” thought contestant Cole Browning. The boys also had other fundraisers such as tip a waiter at Bedrock's Chowder House and Grill, and a car wash at the Umpqua Bank parking lot. They raised about $10,000. The community, Mr. Bulldog, and Mr. MHS donated some of their proceeds in name of Eric Chase to the Children Miracle Network. Reader Board By Josh Savy A digital reader board has been a goal for the ASB for about 5 years. Checking into these boards last year, they range form $10,000 to $30,000. Our reader board cost $15,000and the whole project cost was $18,000. Being so expensive, we had to find a way to raise all the funds. The first fundraiser for the reader board was the Hypnotist, which raised $1,000. Last year we finnaly raised another $12,500 from various donors such as Dunes Family Health Care, FBLA, Junior High ASB, Key Club, and Highland PTO. With the majority of the money, we wrote a grant to Ford Family Foundation asking for $5,500. Within a month we knew our grant had been accepted and we had all our money. Now, having he reader board for about a month i can say that it is really easy to use. A person can program all the messages for one month ahead of time and the board will run itself. Just for your information, our old board will be cut down eventually and is palnned to be mounted on the wall of the Pacific Auditorium |
