Just
Desserts
By
Heather Leach
Giving Mr. RHS
contestants a chance to meet and speak with the judges
was one of the aims of the dessert put on Tuesday, March 7, in the
cafeteria.
Mrs. Tisler started out the evening by explaining
the CMN (Children’s Miracle Network) program and goals. With
parents, contestants, coordinators and judges present it was a good
time to go over the specifics. Not only were the judges announced
but also the emcees. Joe Zelinsky and Jim Akre will be announcing
for the night.
Many desserts were made by volunteers and devoured
by all those present. “I gained 5 pounds,” Chris Kaufmann
stated after the fact. He also mentioned that the dessert was a
good way “to get our names out there so everyone knows us.” As
well as it was, “a great experience, we got to to meet the
judges. It was a fun time and we got to hang out with all the
guys.
Thursday, before kicking off the Tip-Mr. RHS Chris
gave one last statement, “I hope we bring in a lot of money and the
community comes to support us since it does go to help the babies.”
Land Of The
Grasshopper Play
By

Every year seniors are picked out for the Mr.
RHS, and each year they do several things to raise money for the
babies. This competition was the Mr. RHS
tip-a-waiter.
This year the contestants made 1,500,003 dollars at
the tip-a waiter. This event was held last thursday March 9, 2006. It
was held at Bedrocks during the times of 5:30 and 9:00.
The
Mr. RHS contestants were the following Cole Browning, Skyler Squglio,
Buddy Phibbs, Chris Kaufmann, Daniel Plotz, Carter DuVal, Eric Chase,
Garrett Spangle, Tyler Marler, Alan Wheeler, Tyson Smart, Mondo
Herrera, and Mike Clemens.
“We had a great turnout the boys worked really hard,
they did really good at the dancing and singing” replied Alison Law who
helped put on the Mr. RHS. Toni Willis then told us “I had a lot
of fun the boys did a really good job singing and it was really
funny.”
The contestants sang Paradise city to everyone
while Cole Browning in perticular sang You Lost That Loving Feeling to
Bethany Elliot. Then during the break the boys played games.
“Going on deliveries is way easier than being
at the restaurant” Replied Skyler Squglio.
So all in all the tip-a-waiter was a good turn out
with 1,500,003 dollars and sounds like the people their had a good
time.
Miracle
Worker Auditions
The Miracle Worker by William Gibson will be the first production of Rising
Tide Live, the group formed to promote the performing arts in the community.
Performances are scheduled for June 9, 10 and 11 in Pacific Auditorium.
This is to be a community effort. To make it a success and attract a wide
audience, help is needed for set building, props, costumes, make-up, stage
management and promotion.
Auditions will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday, March 21 and 22,
and at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 25, in the auditorium, 2605 Longwood
Drive, Reedsport.
Young Helen Keller, blind, deaf, and mute since infancy, is in danger of
being sent to an institution. Her inability to communicate has left her
frustrated and violent. In desperation, her parents seek help from the
Perkins Institute, which sends them a "half-blind Yankee schoolgirl" named
Annie Sullivan to tutor their daughter. Through persistence and love, and
sheer stubbornness, Annie breaks through Helen's walls of silence and
darkness and teaches her to communicate.
Arlee Olson will direct this play, which is set in the late 1800s. It calls
for six males, six females and a number of young people to play blind
students.
For more information on Rising Tide Live, the production or auditions, those
interested can call Olson at 271-3572 or Leah Hopkins at 271-7474, ext. 206.
