My
Rant
By Sam Huskey
Going
to school can be a trying experience for many young students. Those
with low self-esteem are tested over and over by the constant jeering
of other students. Is this behavior from the other students appropriate?
In my opinion, no, in no way is constant disrespect
for any other student right. It not only shows that you have no respect
for others feelings, but it also shows that your own self-esteem is
only higher than theirs because you make fun of them to raise it. If
all you can do is try to cause others degradation to make yourself feel
better, than there is no place for you to do anything in our time and
age.
So much of our society and culture has relied upon
teamwork to further ourselves in every time of need. If these
people cannot bring themselves to grow up and get over their own
problems, then there is no place for them to be a part of our hard
working society.
Though most of these people will change throughout
their high school career, there will still be a few who have nothing
better to do than degrade others for their own personal satisfaction.
Sooner or later they will be weeded out of the job world and forced to
work at jobs where all you have to say is "Do you want fries with
that.” And that is my rant.
Death
Penalty?
By Sam Huskey
In
today’s world many heinous acts are committed each and every single
day. The punishments for these crimes are turning into a nuisance
rather than what they are supposed to be. For example, the death
penalty is a repercussion for those criminals who are found to be
guilty of such heinous crimes that the sentencing committee is forced
to sentence them with it. Is that a real punishment for those who are
found guilty of their crimes, or is it just an easy release from a life
in prison with barely any contact from the outside world?
I believe that giving more people the death penalty
is a cop-out from a life jail sentence. If someone is sentenced to
death, what point was it to even wait really? All the system is doing
is by giving them the chance to appeal their cases is to buy time for
them to try to convince a jury that the person is not guilty of their
crimes. What is the point of that?
If they had just put that person in jail for the
rest of their natural lives, it would be so much more of a punishment
than being released into death. So ask yourself, is the death penalty
really the worst that we can do to people?
